It was another dramatic day in the second round of the FA Cup, as non-league
Dover won 1-0 away to League Two side Cheltenham Town, but the result of the day
was arguably Worcester City’s 1-1 draw with Scunthorpe.
61 places separate Worcester and their League One
opponents, but that counted for little as Daniel Nti’s strike cancelled out
Paddy Madden’s opener for Scunthorpe to keep the Conference North side’s hopes
of reaching the third round alive.
There were plenty more shocks elsewhere as well, with Connor Essam’s late
goal proving enough to send Dover through at the expense of Cheltenham, but it
was heartache for Warrington Town, as they fell 2-0 to Gateshead.
Bristol
City – the highest ranked team in this round of the competition – left it
incredibly late against Telford, Kieran Agard bagging the only goal of the game
in time added on, while Bradford made full use of their experience, by
comprehensively beating Dartford 4-1 at Valley Parade.
Southport ensured there would be yet another non-league side in the next
round, as they beat fellow Conference side Eastleigh 2-1, and there could be
more yet to join them, as Aldershot drew 0-0 with Rochdale at home and Chester
held Barnsley
to a goalless draw at Oakwell.
Finally, AFC Wimbledon put their recent poor form behind them
with a 1-0 victory away to Wycombe.
