West Ham striker Andy Carroll insists there is "no limit" to the
Hammers' ambitions this season and believes they have what it takes to secure
European football.
Carroll bagged as brace for the London side as
they beat Swansea City 3-1 to move up to third in the Premier League – his
first goals in 790 minutes of football – and commented afterwards that they
could continue to surprise this year.
“There’s no limit, we can go as far as we want,” Carroll told talkSPORT. “We
have a great team and the manager has been fantastic to everyone. We’re pushing
for as high as we can go and we can go as far as we want.
“We’re playing every game as it comes, we’re obviously doing very well at
the minute and we’ve just got to stick by it, continue playing the way we are
and I don’t see why we couldn’t be in Europe next season.”
Carroll’s double was rounded-off with a goal for Diafra Sakho – who has been
absent for the past three matches owing to injury – and the England man pointed
to the arrival of former Hammers’ hero Teddy
Sheringham as a coach, as a reason for the red hot frontline.
“We brought Teddy Sheringham in and he’s doing a lot of work with us as
well, which has helped and changed a lot of things.
“He’s been great. Some of his finishing sessions and movement sessions – he
was great at that – that’s what he’s shown us and coached us in the right way.”
